Living Next Door Community Workshop
What does it mean when industrial activity exists right next door to our homes, schools, and neighborhoods?
For many Arlington residents, this is not a hypothetical question. It is a lived reality.
Living Next Door is an upcoming community workshop hosted by Dream City PAC, centered around the documentary Faces of Fracking, produced by Livable Arlington and Fold Studios. The film tells the stories of six Arlington residents who live, work, and raise families near active drilling sites, offering a deeply personal look at how fracking intersects with daily life in our city.
The documentary explores questions many of us may not have paused to ask. What is fracking? Where does it happen in Arlington? How close is it to homes, schools, and parks? What are the potential impacts on air quality, water, health, and quality of life? Who is making decisions about where drilling occurs, and how are residents included in those decisions?
Rather than relying on abstract debates, Faces of Fracking centers the voices of people who are living next door. Neighbors share their concerns, their experiences, and their unanswered questions. The film also introduces data and research that help provide context for these stories, inviting viewers to think more critically about what is happening beneath and around our communities.
Living Next Door is more than a documentary screening. After watching the full film together, participants will engage in guided discussion and review local data to unpack the stories shared on screen. This workshop is designed to create space for listening, learning, and reflection, and for residents to connect lived experience with information that often feels inaccessible or disconnected from everyday life.
At Dream City PAC, our mission is rooted in people-powered leadership. We believe Arlington is strongest when residents are informed, engaged, and included in conversations about the decisions that shape our shared future. This event reflects our commitment to listening to community voices, grounding conversations in real experiences and real data, and fostering dialogue that leads to greater transparency and accountability.
You do not need to be an expert to attend. You do not need to have all the answers. Whether you are directly impacted, curious about what is happening in our city, or simply want to better understand how local decisions affect our neighborhoods, this space is for you.
What is fracking, really? How does it show up in Arlington? What does it mean for our health, our homes, and future generations? And how can community voices help shape more people-centered decisions?
We invite you to join us for Living Next Door and be part of a thoughtful, community-driven conversation about the Arlington we are building together.
